An Invitation

At this point in my life I feel drawn to share my understanding of selves and Self with others. So I’m offering a limited number of small workshops and one-to-one mini-retreats at my home in Kew, West London. Read on to find out more…

From selves to Self: an exploration into who we really are

The Workshop

In this intensive 2-day workshop we will use the Voice Dialogue method to investigate who we think we are.  We will delve into the dramas played out through the many selves that make up our personality and gain an in-depth understanding of how these selves inform and influence our lives and the decisions we make.

Going further, we will enquire into the nature of consciousness in which these selves appear and with which they are known.

By the end of the workshop participants will have a deeper understanding of themselves and be empowered to make new choices.

The Format

Each participant will be given the opportunity to be facilitated on an issue in their lives they would like to explore.  I will then lead an extensive debriefing in which insights and understandings will be discussed in the whole group.

Who

The workshop is limited to 4 people who should:

·  Be inquisitive and open to exploring who they really are

·  Have some knowledge of Voice Dialogue theory and practice

·  Be familiar with the articles and videos on this website

·  Have read some or all of my book Selves in Action

·  Be willing to share personal experiences in a safe and intimate setting.

Participants can be a group of 4 friends or colleagues from the same organisation, or willing to join with 3 other individuals.

Schedule

The workshop is very intensive and takes place over 2 days. Arrival is the evening before the first day. Each day runs from 9am to 5pm with a break for lunch.

Location

The workshop takes place in my home in Kew, West London – a late 19th century cottage originally built for Queen Victoria’s gardeners working in the nearby Royal Botanical Gardens - a World Heritage Site.  Participants should organise their own local accommodation.

Dates

I am semi-retired and only offer this workshop a few times a year. Dates can be organised to suit your schedule.

One-to-One Mini-Retreat

  • Are you satisfied with your life?
  • What drives you to do the things that you do?
  • Where do your attitudes, beliefs, values and behaviours come from?
  • Are your relationships fulfilling?
  • Do you judge yourself and others?
  • Do you feel overwhelmed by life and the state of the world?
  • Are you happy?

Join me for an exclusive individual mini-retreat, explore these questions in depth, and gain a bigger perspective on your life.

The Process

Your process starts with a zoom session ahead of the retreat so that I can to get know you and understand the issues that you would like to work on. Topics might range from challenges around your personal or professional relationships, to wider questions about the purpose and meaning of your life. During the retreat I will hold a safe physical and emotional space and help you to investigate, understand and resolve whatever might be troubling you. The process is gentle and non-directive and moves at whatever pace feels comfortable for you.

The Methodology

I will draw from my experience of the different modalities I have studied and practiced over many years. Sessions will particularly be informed by my understanding of Voice Dialogue and the Psychology of Selves and by the non-dual teachings of Advaita Vedanta. I will select the most appropriate exercises to help you focus on your particular issue.

Location

Like the workshop, the mini-retreat takes place in my home in Kew, West London. Accommodation is provided in a small self-contained studio in my garden with its own private entrance, bathroom and cooking facilities. Daily sessions are held in the main house.

Schedule

The mini-retreat is very intensive and takes place over 2 days. Arrival is the evening before the first day. Each day runs from 9am to 5pm with a break for lunch. There will be a total of 14 hours one-to-one time with John.

Dates

Dates can be organised to suit your schedule.

About John

My name is John Kent. I was born in London and have lived and worked as a communication trainer, seminar leader and facilitator around the world. I have over 40 years experience in helping people improve both intra-personal and interpersonal communication.

I studied Voice Dialogue with its creators, Drs. Hal & Sidra Stone, in the USA and Europe. From 1991 to 1995 I co-founded the Voice Dialogue Centre of Tucson, Arizona and taught Voice Dialogue in San Francisco. After returning to London I founded Voice Dialogue UK and continued to conduct Voice Dialogue workshops and private sessions with individuals and couples. In 2010 I created the first Voice Dialogue Online Program.

In 2016 I discovered the non-dual teachings of Rupert Spira and realised that, as well as a powerful psychological methodology, Voice Dialogue could also be seen as a progressive path tool, helping us to realise our true nature: the Self in which all our selves have their being.
